Hi, Future Rich + World-Traveling Writer,
I’m Vanessa Zink, and I’ve been a copywriter working around the world for a full decade. Like you, I’ve always chased freedom and shunned the “typical” 9-5 lifestyle.
Back in 2013, I needed a way to escape my toxic teaching job in South Korea, so I decided to pop up a Gig on the freelance website Fiverr and pray that people would discover — and hire — me.
On my FIRST day in business, I received 30 orders.
I barely had time to blink before I was running a full-time copy business, crafting social media posts, emails, blogs and websites for entrepreneurs in America, Europe, Australia, Asia and beyond.
When each new project ended, a new one appeared. Within the first 6 months, I’d served 500 clients — and learned A LOT about how NOT to run a business. #helloburnout
Even though I consistently raised my rates and got laser focused on the dream clients I liked writing for, I was STILL working around the clock, typing on my Macbook from the moment I woke up until the moment I went to sleep … usually around 3 AM. (“Why yes, those ARE dark circles under my eyes, thank you for noticing.”)
In order to keep up with my “freedom-based business” (Ha!) I was mainlining Diet Mountain Dew. I gained 70 pounds. And worst of all, I missed out on special moments with my loved ones because I was constantly fielding emails, DMs and “Can you do this real quick today?” messages from clients.
No matter how hard I worked, there was ALWAYS. MORE. WORK. TO. DO.
Even though I was cashing checks and signing clients all the time, I felt like hot garbage on a New York City sidewalk. Plus, there was hardly a spare minute to breathe, much less scale MY OWN business with the passive products and courses I always envisioned myself creating.
Something had to change.
That’s when I “invented” my own path to multiple 6-figures → one that gave me balance in my body AND my bank account.
When I transitioned from saying yes to every project to following the path laid out inside $200K Copywriter, I broke $200,000 for the first time in my life. I even had enough spare time left over to have my first-ever 5-figure launch for my course Bad Bitch Copy Camp. *CUE THE TRUMPETS*
I was finally able to take laptop-free vacations to places like Spain and Morocco, and family vacations became work-free once again. (That’s the whole point of being self-employed, isn’t it? You NEED free space to not work — without sacrificing your income.)
It took me 6 years — and a lotttttttt of sacrifices — to get to the moment where I was no longer “Vanessa The Copywriter.” I became “Vanessa, sister, fiance, daughter, dog mom, wanderlust junkie … and I also run a successful business.”
